Frequently asked questions
What is a mild hyperbaric chamber?
A mild hyperbaric chamber is a pressurized capsule that slightly increases air pressure (up to 1.4 ATA). This allows your body to absorb more oxygen through your plasma, not just your red blood cells, supporting cellular recovery, tissue repair, and overall wellness.
In Cusco, it’s particularly beneficial for visitors adjusting to high altitude. Many guests use it to alleviate altitude-related symptoms such as headaches, nausea, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. It’s also popular for post-trek recovery and reducing exercise-related soreness.
How does the hyperbaric chamber help with altitude sickness?
Cusco sits at 3,400 meters above sea level, which can cause altitude-related symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, dizziness, and difficulty sleeping. Using a mild hyperbaric chamber increases the amount of oxygen delivered to your tissues, helping your body adjust more comfortably to high altitude. Many visitors use it before or after trekking to reduce discomfort and recover faster from altitude exposure.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes. Mild hyperbaric chamber sessions are generally safe for healthy adults. The increased oxygen levels are gentle and carefully controlled (up to 1.4 ATA), making it suitable for most visitors adjusting to Cusco’s high altitude.
We always recommend consulting your healthcare provider if you have respiratory, heart, or ear conditions before using the chamber. Many trekkers and travelers in Cusco safely use the chamber to reduce altitude-related symptoms and support recovery.
How many sessions do I need?
Many visitors to Cusco notice relief from altitude-related symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, or difficulty sleeping after just one session.
If you’re planning treks, exploring at high altitude, or want to optimize recovery and energy levels, 2–3 sessions are often recommended. This helps your body adjust more comfortably to Cusco’s 3,400m elevation and recover faster from physical exertion.
Is it for everybody?
The chamber is fairly tight so it isn't for those who suffer from claustrophobia. The pressure is similar to diving, so if you aren't allowed to dive (suffer from ear issues) then the chamber isn't recommended.
Can it treat severe altitude sickness?
If you’re experiencing serious symptoms like trouble breathing, confusion, or blue lips/fingertips, you should seek emergency medical care. Our therapy supports mild to moderate symptoms and is not a substitute for clinical treatment.
What’s the difference between the Hyperbaric Chamber and the Altitude Combo?
What’s the difference between the Hyperbaric Chamber session and the Altitude Combo?
A Hyperbaric Chamber session is a 60-minute session in the chamber, designed to help your body absorb more oxygen, reduce altitude-related symptoms, and support recovery.
The Altitude Combo pairs a 60-minute chamber session with a 60-minute massage, offering enhanced physical recovery, relaxation, and muscle relief — perfect for trekkers or travelers adjusting to Cusco’s 3,400m altitude.
What is the difference between receiving oxygen at my hotel to the chambers?
Receiving oxygen at your hotel provides temporary relief from altitude-related symptoms such as fatigue or headaches, but the effects are usually short-lived because your body isn’t absorbing it as efficiently.
In contrast, a mild hyperbaric chamber session in our center increases air pressure, allowing your body to absorb oxygen through both plasma and red blood cells. This supports longer-lasting relief from altitude sickness, faster recovery after trekking, and overall wellness while adjusting to Cusco’s 3,400m elevation.
Can hyperbaric therapy improve sleep at high altitude?
Yes, many visitors report better rest and reduced sleep disruption after a session, helping the body adjust more comfortably to Cusco’s elevation.
