Frequently asked questions
Is float therapy safe at high altitude in Cusco?
Yes, floatation therapy is safe at high altitude and can be especially beneficial in Cusco. Many visitors find that floating helps relieve common altitude-related symptoms such as fatigue, poor sleep, muscle soreness, and general physical tension.
What should I bring or wear?
It’s completely up to you. You may choose to wear a swimsuit or float without clothing — the tank is fully private. We provide towels, showers, and all necessary amenities for your session.
Will I feel claustrophobic in the tank?
Most people are surprised to find they feel deeply relaxed rather than claustrophobic. The float tank is spacious, and you can choose to keep the light on or off at any time. You’re always in control and can open the tank whenever you wish.
Can I float after completing a trek?
Absolutely. Floatation therapy supports post-trek recovery by easing muscle soreness, reducing joint pressure, and promoting mental and physical relaxation. Many hikers choose it after the Inca Trail or Salkantay to recharge and recover faster.
Is floatation therapy hygienic?
Yes. Our float tanks are thoroughly cleaned between each session and use a triple-filtration system with UV light and hydrogen peroxide, ensuring crystal-clear, safe water for every guest.
What is the longest I can float for?
Most guests float for one hour, which is ideal for first-time sessions. Longer or more frequent floats can provide additional benefits, and many guests choose a double float. For double floats, you receive 2.5 hours in total, as we don’t need to prepare the room between sessions. There is no strict maximum — you can float as long as you feel comfortable.
Will the salt dry out or damage my hair?
No. The water is high in Epsom salt, which is safe for hair. Most guests rinse their hair in the provided showers afterward, and the salt does not cause damage or long-term dryness.
How do you keep the temperature right?
The float tank maintains a water temperature of 37°C (body temperature), matching both your skin and the surrounding air. This creates a seamless “zero-boundary” experience, so you can’t tell where the water begins and ends.
How much salt do you use?
Each float pod contains approximately 525kg (half a tonne) of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate). This high salt concentration allows your body to float effortlessly on the surface, creating a zero-gravity effect that supports deep relaxation and muscle recovery.
Is there any risk of drowning?
No. The extremely high concentration of Epsom salt makes the water highly buoyant, meaning your body floats effortlessly on the surface. It is not possible to sink, even if you fully relax or fall asleep.
I'm pregnant. Can I float?
Floatation therapy is generally considered safe during pregnancy, but we always recommend consulting your healthcare provider first. Many pregnant women find floating especially beneficial in later pregnancy, as the buoyancy relieves pressure on the back and joints while promoting deep relaxation. The calm, weightless environment can also create a peaceful space to rest and connect with your baby.
Can I float if I'm menstruating?
Yes, you can float while menstruating. Simply use a tampon or menstrual cup, as you would when swimming. Many guests find floatation therapy relaxing during their cycle, as the warm, buoyant environment can help ease muscle tension and promote overall comfort.
Why does my neck hurt?
Some first-time floaters notice mild neck discomfort during their session. This is often because we’re used to holding our heads forward throughout the day — especially when using phones and computers — and it can take time to fully relax and let the water support the weight of the head.
Most guests find this sensation improves after a session or two as the body learns to relax more naturally. We also provide a Halo Float Pillow, designed to offer additional neck support if you prefer extra comfort.
Can I float with low or high blood pressure?
Floatation therapy is deeply relaxing and may support overall stress reduction, which can positively influence blood pressure. However, if you have low or high blood pressure, we strongly recommend consulting your healthcare provider before booking a session to ensure it’s appropriate for you.
Can I float with a new tattoo?
No. We do not recommend floating with a fresh tattoo. Floatation therapy should be avoided until your tattoo is fully healed to protect both your skin and the cleanliness of the tank. Healing time varies, so check with your tattoo artist, but we generally recommend waiting 4–6 weeks before booking a session.
I just shaved prior to floating. Can I float?
We recommend saving your shave for a non-float day, as the salty water can sting freshly-shaven areas.
Can I float or enter the hyperbaric chamber with epilepsy?
Unfortuanately, for safety reasons we do not allow people with epilepsy to float or enter the chamber.
